The Dash-O-Matic

I consider the Dash-O-Matic video to be my true introduction as a maker on YouTube. Before creating this little tool and publishing the video, I only had two DIY-type videos on my channel - the Smiley Headset Cap and Laundry Day. My other videos were vlogs and probably only interesting to friends and family who knew me.

Wanting to establish myself and my channel in the maker community, I thought this video would be a fitting introduction that showcased my hands-on ability, mechanical engineering background, and love of history, all wrapped up in a nice neat story.

Little did I know just how difficult that would be to market.

This video is one part DIY, one part history, and one part ridiculous. It was a blast to make, even if it’s been a challenge to find the right audience for it.
